a RainWise rain garden with layers of plants and sections of mulch and rocks.

Mulch, Soil Amendments & Plants

Mixing compost into your soil, mulching your garden annually with leaves or wood chips, and mulch-mowing your lawn (leaving the clippings) are the easiest ways to help your yard slow, soak in, and clean stormwater.

Benefits

  • Mulching is easy
  • Amending soil with compost helps rain soak in and builds healthier landscapes
  • Saves money by reducing need for irrigation, fertilizers and pesticides
